Our Kitchen Organization with The Container Store

Thanks to The Container Store for sponsoring today’s post. All opinions are authentically my own!

One area of our home that’s been on my list to organize.. our kitchen! I wanted to wait a bit after moving to really live in the space to truly understand what the trouble areas were, which kitchen items we needed frequent access to and more. After living in our home for just over a year, I felt ready to tackle this. Honestly.. it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.

Today I’m partnering with The Container Store to share the key areas of organization to help you organize your own kitchen! Note, I didn’t leverage any professional organization help. I wanted to show that you can do this yourself!

To get your house ready for the Holidays, The Container Store is running a 25% off kitchen sale. What better way to get your life in order before the hosting festivities?! Most of all the products I share today are included in the 25% off.

Also, here is a post all out our pantry organization if you need help in that department as well.

OUR KITCHEN ORGANIZATION WITH THE CONTAINER STORE

Before we jump into organization, the first step is to empty out all your cabinets, drawers and nooks.

I then suggest organizing all your products into ‘trash, donate, consolidation and keep’ piles.

  • Trash: Throw anything expired, that’s been open for too long or broken.
  • Donate: Place any organizational pieces that aren’t serving your your space to be donated.
  • Consolidation: When organizing your kitchen, creating piles of like items you’re keeping is helpful to see what you own and what you’ll eventually need to put back into your cabinets or drawers. For example, group all your spatchulas together, serving spoons, chip clips, KitchenAid attachments, etc.

Getting these steps under your bel is easier said than done, but it’s vital. This really allows you to understand what is in your kitchen and in turn, what you need to organize!

So let’s dive in..

1.TUPPERWARE
Storing Tupperware was such a pain.. until I thought of a very simple solution! I donated any storage containers that were outside of the OXO sets we had from our wedding registry. This allowed all our Tupperware to be from the same brand and neatly fit within one another within our cabinet. I have multiple sets of this OXO glass Tupperware and this OXO plastic Tupperware

Moving onto storing the lids.. I store them all within a basic acrylic bin. We use these bins all through our house including our bathroom and our pantry to store snacks. I love that

One of my favorite hobbies is baking! I love making sweets from scratch for loved ones and friends. S and I love to bake up dessert together when we have a night in as well.

I like to have all the essentials on hand, even without any baking plans, so that they’re in full stock when I get the bug!

In our lazy suzan cabinet, I have all my baking supplies stored in the OXO Baking Essentials Canisters. I LOVE OXO canisters because they keep food fresh and organized. I used these removable labels to name each food canister as well.

Next to our lazy susan, we have a cabinet that stores all our bakewear. Since I love baking, I registered for Williams-Sonoma’s Gold Touch collection. They are so pretty and commercial-grade bakewear! That said, organizing them in a regular cabinet wasn’t working. Our cabinets are really deep so finding the baking sheet or baking pan I needed was a hassle or digging and digging. To solve this issue, we installed Lynk Cabinet Pull-Out Holders. They are amazing!

Since we had some items that needed to be standing up, like baking sheets and cooling racks, plus some that needed to be stacked, like loaf and pans, we opted for two different Lynk pull outs.

We used Lynk Cabinet Pull-Out Lids Holder for the baking pans and the traditional Lynk Cabinet Pull-Out Drawers for everything else.

They were easy to install, made our deep cabinets much easier to access and overall provided better organization for this cabinet that we are in and out from frequently!

I don’t know about you, but my biggest kitchen headache were our utensil drawers. Bleh! Our drawers are very big so no one organizer really fit and the ‘no man’s and’ would become a huge mess. We decided to try adding in Linux Custom Drawer Organizers around our standard acrylic organizer. Such an EASY and affordable solution to a huge headache!

If you have this struggle right now, I suggest measuring out your drawer, auditing what needs to fit and finding the best mix and match of the Linux Custom Drawer Organizers. They are totally customizable!

If you read our pantry organization post, you’ll see that I at first had our spices stored on our Elfa door system. After living here and feeling out our systems a bit longer, I decided we needed more space in our pantry and the spices would fit perfectly in the cabinet net to our stove.

We opted for this Spinning Spice Rack because the bottles are glass, they look cohesive and the spinning function is useful. We really like it!

When it comes to food storage, we have a few key products that we love and may be helpful to you!

First, starting with pantry snacks, nuts, powders and basically anything that comes in a bag.. we use this OXO 20-Piece POP Canister Set. I love that they can stack on top of one another, totally seal our food and make finding our food in the pantry much easier. Here is the 10-Piece set available.

Secondly, for storing food in the fridge, we have four sets of the OXO 8-Piece Glass Food Storage Set. I like that they are glass so warming up leftovers doesn’t dirty additional dishes and they don’t get food stains like plastic can. They also are airtight locked and come in all the varying sizes you’d ever need.

After battling our tupperware for so long, I decided to ditch any that aren’t in the OXO 8-Piece Glass Food Storage Set. The reason being is that storing and organizing our food storage containers is so much easier now since they all nest within one another.

Thirdly, we have all the varying sizes of Stasher Silicone Reusable Storage Bags and they are AWESOME! I was a skeptic at fist, but after using them for leftovers, marinating meats, for S’ lunch snacks are more… I stocked up. Oh, and they are dishwasher safe!

And lastly, as mentioned above we use two sets of the OXO Baking Essentials Canisters to store all my baking ingredients. I love that our lazy susan cabinet is always organized and it’s easy to see what ingredients I need to grab while running out the door due to these canisters.

On the top of our sink, I always felt guilty that our sponge was lost somewhere in there which was probably not hygienic. I am not one for kitchen gadgets, but I wanted to try out the SimpleHuman Sink Caddy which holds your sponges. This holds one of the long soap dispensing brush along with two sponges

Then under the sink, we use these 3M Command Clear Caddies to hold the sponge I use to clean our tabletops and Muenster’s food area. I like begin able to have these tucked away and separated from our regular sink sponge. In these affordable caddies, we also store spare sponges. I think they’d be useful in a bathroom for nailpolish too!

Under our sink, we use two of MadeSmart Turn It Organizer caddies to organize our cleaning supplies – sprays, microfiber towels, gloves, and more. They are only $20! I prefer MadeSmart Turn It Organizer caddies over other’s because the separators can be removed for bulky items, it’s easy to wipe down and it has handles that come in handy when I go upstairs to clean.

And probably my favorite item in our kitchen – SimpleHuman Dual Trash & Recycler. Why? Well because we had a SimpleHuman trashcan, but nothing to store recycling so it has sat in a cardboard box near our trash for the last year. I was so over it and when partnering with The Container Store on this project, decided it was time to upgrade to a trashcan that holds both trash and recycling. I’m perplexed on how other people store their recycling! If you have a trick, tell me below.  Shop our recycling organization:

I hope this post is helpful while organizing your own kitchen! And don’t forget, The Container Store is running a 25% off kitchen sale.
