How is 2017 coming to an end? This year was one for the books, but I’m excited to see where 2018 brings me. What about you?
Last week I shared a blog post covering how to set and achieve your goals. While I hate ‘resolutions’ since the connotation of failure comes with that word, I do love goals and am very driven by them. Today I thought it’d be fun to dive into my personal and business goals for the coming year and also share my 2018 planner [it’s on sale for $23!]. I hope this post will give you the inspiration to reflect, write down those goals and create and action plan to achieve them!
ONE // MARRIAGE
My #1 goal is to be the best wife and life partner I can be to S.
While this isn’t a quantitative goal, it’s more of a constant perspective. Life is about balance, but our marriage (and our little family) come before everything.
TWO // HEALTH
-Four 16 ounces of H20 with one having collagen peptides
-Refined sugar only 1/week
This past year I really prioritized increasing my water intake and finding a work out routine I love #BridalBod, so I want to keep making both of these a priority. After our honeymoon, I started eating more sugar than I was prior while gearing up for our wedding, so I want to nix that bad habit. I already started removing it last week and already feel SO GOOD. I feel like sticking to 1/week will allow me to have a treat, but also feel my best and bring my fitness results to the next level.
THREE // BIRTHDAYS
Compile friends and families birthdays and list on a calendar.
I feel like I’m always afraid I missed a ‘happy birthday’ since I don’t have them listed in one spot, so I need ot get on this!
FOUR // HOME
Buy our first house.
We’re so excited to plant some roots and start new traditions in our first home! Once the New Year rolls around, we’re going to start browsing states/areas more thoroughly. Our lease is up next October, so we’ll see when the purchase happens, but we’re very excited.
It’s so crazy to reflect on my business from this time last year, to now. If you’re a fellow blogger or small business owner, think back to where you were last year! We don’t realize all we’ve accomplished on a day-to-day basis, but when reflecting on an entire year it’s really put into perspective. Where did you succeed? Where is there room for improvement?
In 2017 I worked with dream brands, tripled my business income, stuck to my going rates (and with that, declined many partnerships), focused on my analytics and really drove my pageviews up. This year, I want to bring my blog to the next level and focus on the following:
ONE // PARTNERSHIPS
Pitch three new brands a month.
Work with one new brand a month.
TWO // INCOME
Increase my income by 2X.
I plan to do this by reflecting on my affiliate sales on a more frequent basis, increased outbound pitching to brands and continuing to stick to my rates.
THREE // PROMO
Max out Tailwind usage
Curate Pinterest optimized pins for three new/old blog posts per week.
For promotional efforts this year, I’m focusing mainly on Pinterest. I have quantitaive goals attached to this for myself, but to stay high level here, Pinterest drives 7X the traffic of other social media platforms and in turn, drives major blog pageviews. In the past I’ve put a large part of my promotional efforts towards Instagram, but it isn’t as large of a referrer and the constant algorithm changes hinder small business growth on the platform. We can’t control social media outlets like Instagram; we only have control over our blogs, so I’ll be focusing my energy on what drives traffic there – Pinterest!
If you’re a blogger, I encourage you to dig into Google Analytics and find your largest referrer as well.
FOUR // SUBSCRIBERS
Increase mailing list by 5X.
I’ll achieve this by creating varying opt-in options (weekly round up, monthly newsletter, etc), overhaul landing page and pop up designs with A/B tests to see what converts best and create exclusive content for first time subscribers.
Start monthly email newsletter for subscribers.
Opt in here if you want to be on the list 🙂
FIVE // CONTENT
Test out video.
I love when my favorite bloggers release video content because it let’s me get to know them and their personality on a greater level. My goal here is to simply test this out and from there if it’s something my readers enjoy and I like doing, I’ll reset the goal for a specific frequency.
Nail out a consistent monthly ‘type’ schedule.
With a crazy schedule and wedding planning last year, I was writing what I felt like creating, when I felt like it. This year, I want to make sure I’m delivering X amount of fashion posts, X amount of sale posts, X amount of beauty posts and then supplement with home décor, wedding, wellness and advice.
Increase beauty content.
My main asked questions are beauty related, so I want to add in tutorials and “how to’s” to my monthly schedule.
SIX // SITE DESIGN
Overhaul site design.
I’m looking to make this site more easier to navigate and ensure that it truly represents my brand.
What are your personal and/or business goals for 2018?! I’d love to hear in the comments below. Xo Mindy
