8 Things You Absolutely Must Do in ParisThinking back to the memories made in the city of love on our honeymoon makes my heart so full! We celebrated our ten year long relationship moving to a new chapter of marriage in Paris, so it will always hold a special place in our hearts! We knew while vetting through locations that we wanted something a bit different than a tropical poolside spot since we’ve done that many times through the years. Right when S suggested Paris, I said YESSSS! Our week there was chalk full of adventure, celebrations and awe of the beauty that surrounded us. Oh and full, happy bellies!

While planning our honeymoon, Sergio and I decided to spend the entire week in Paris to really soak up the culture, food and history. We adventured through so many amazing parts of this beautiful city every day we were there and while I had to really chop this list down, I settled on ten things you must absolutely do while you’re in Paris! I have an entire recap of our honeymoon coming soon that will cover where we stayed and much more, but until then I hope this helps you plan your getaway to the most romantic city on earth!

10-things-you-must-absolutley-do-paris-honeymoonRequired fields are marked *ONE // Get Lost: I’ve been asked by so many friends and colleagues what our favorite thing to do or see in Paris was. While the history and touristy things were fun, both S and I agree that our absolute favorite thing to do was to get lost. We had one to two things we wanted to check off our bucket list each day, but for all the hours in between we just roamed and adventured. We stayed at a boutique hotel in the 8th District, so if we wanted to visit something in the 4th District that afternoon, we’d walk towards that area, but give ourselves hours to stop at cute cafes for crepes, another one for espresso and more. It’s such a beautiful city filled with gorgeous architecture, amazing food and love everywhere. Just get lost and take it in.
10-things-you-must-absolutley-do-paris-honeymoonTWO // Take a Cooking Class: Okay – my other absolute favorite thing we did? Taking an authentic French cuisine cooking class. After ten years of dating, S and I love to still “date one another” and one way we do this is by learning new things together! This baking class was such SO FUN. We learned how to bake croissants and lots of other French pastries. We also a lot about the science behind certain baking techniques. Our class was hosted at La Cuisine Paris and we both highly suggest it!

We had no idea you could sit alongside the Seine. Like right on it. After our cooking class, we grabbed some caffeine and unwinded near the river together. We people watched, boat watched and swan watched, just the two of us. What’s better than that?
10-things-you-must-absolutley-do-paris-honeymoonFOUR // Visit the Eiffel Tower at Night: One of our first days in Paris, we did a sunset boat tour on the Seine River. We figured this would give us some history on certain areas we weren’t aware of and also point out some places we’d like to explore in the coming days! Little did we know, the Eiffel Tower twinkles at night for ten minutes! We had no idea and couldn’t believe how gorgeous it was! It was so beautiful, romantic and mesmerizing. For us it twinkled at 8PM, but I’v heard the time fluctuates through the year.
10-things-you-must-absolutley-do-paris-2FIVE // See the Sunrise: From anywhere! The beauty of this city is magnified [if it’s even possible]. We saw the sunrise over the Seine River after taking these photos.
10-things-you-must-absolutley-do-paris-honeymoonSIX // Trek Up the Arc de Triumphe: 284 steps are between you and the best view of Paris! We were frequently asked if we went to the top of the Eiffel tower, but we actually chose to go up the Arc instead since the view is SO AMAZING. My history buff husband really enjoyed this. Worth every step! It reminded me of walking up the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown.
10-things-you-must-absolutley-do-paris-honeymoonparis honeymoonSEVEN // Eat Macaroons from Laduree: I think we went to every Laduree location in Paris [including the airport] three times each. They are so quaint, adorable and of course YUMMY. I mean how once in a lifetime is eating a fresh Laduree macaroon? You can even go to their tea house on the Champ de Lysse. Also – the marshmallows are a MUST TRY and the candles make the best souvenirs!
10-things-you-must-absolutley-do-paris-honeymoonEIGHT // Take in the Eiffel Tower’s Beauty: Whether you walk the bordering streets, ride the Seine, have a picnic, hike up it, eat at a nearby cafe.. you can take in the tower in so many ways. It was mind boggling to be around the Eiffel Tower and was surreal all week.
10-things-you-must-absolutley-do-paris-honeymoonNINE // Crepe Hop: After being good and taking in only a couple sweets the first few days, S and I went off our rockers near the ned of our trip. We crop hopped and omg it was so fun! We’d grab breakfast as one crepery, brunch at another and then lunch at a third HAHA!
10-things-you-must-absolutley-do-paris-honeymoonTEN // Authentic French Dinner: This may seem like a no brainer, you’re in France! The reason I wanted to mention this is that the French dinner cuisine is really expensive [like $200+ a person] and it’s also hard to get in without reservations [and most authentic places didn’t speak English and you’d have to speak on the phone to reserve]. We found a really great place that was our splurge night for us, but much less than most French places called Le Petit Pontoise. They even had online reservations! The restaurant is so quaint, authentic, service was superb and the food was amazing. S is very adventurous and tried escargot and pig cheeks! He really enjoyed them both.
