While August is on it’s way to a close, S and I are sneaking in as many pool days as we can! Our apartment has a beautiful patio area that has a big pool, cabana, lounge chairs and a few grills so you’ll usually find us soaking up the sun here on the weekends. If you’re also piling on the pool days before we say goodbye to summer and hello to fall, I wanted to share a few of pool day essentials!

ONE // Healthy Snacks: Leading up to a day of lounging by the pool, I avoid dairy, gluten and processed foods to feel my very best. On the day of, I like to pack a few healthy snacks like almonds, bananas and “Flavor Bomb” cherry tomatoes.

Two // Drinks:
After I tried Itz Spritz a few weeks ago, no pool day has been complete within sticking a few of these drinks in my insulated beach bag! You know I’m all for food with limited ingredients, so when I found out that Itz Spritz refreshing alcohol spritzer has only five ingredients, I knew they were right up my alley. In fact, the founder often says “Itz everything you want. Nothing you don’t.” which I completely agree with! They are light, flavorful, refreshing and the perfect spritzer to sip on by the pool. I’ve tried all three yummy flavors – Golden Pear, Cucumber Lime Twist and Elderflower Citrus. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to I’d say the Cucumber Lime Twist is a must-try.

Three // Beach Blanket:
This was my first summer season trying out a beach blanket, rather than my typical beach towel, and I cannot believe I haven’t used one until now! Not only does a beach blanket allow you more space to lay out, but it makes the perfect little gathering spot for you and friends to have snacks on.

Four // Sunscreen: While I use this to cover up my body from UV rays, I like to use Amore Pacific sunscreen on my face. Not only does it block UV rays, but it nourishes your skin, helps against fine lines and prevents you from getting oily. It’s even light enough to layer under your foundation on non-pool days!

Five // Hair Protection:
Just like we shield our skin from the sun, our hair needs protection as well! I like to pin my hair back in braids or a low bun and throw on a hat to avoid sun exposure, but I also will spray this UV protectant on it before stepping outside to the pool as well. I’ve also used it for years on my hair as a detangler right when I get out of the shower.

Six // Magazines:
Of course, no pool day is complete without some good reads. I’ve never signed up for a magazine subscription, but for some reason I get Women’s Health and Harper’s Bazaar delivered monthly so I’ve been enjoying these light reads lately.

What are your pool day essentials? Xo Mindy
