Hi friends! Last week I introduced a new monthly series, The Monthly Mix, where I share a round up of my favorite items from the past month. With the great feedback I received, I wanted to do another new series that I’ll bring to you once or twice a month called the Friday Five. This is just another avenue to share things like amazing beauty products, fun accessories and new work out clothes with you. I’m also excited because this series will allow me to chat with you all about things other than just my main focus of beauty and fashion, like awesome playlists, home decor additions, new recipes I’ve stumbled upon and fellow blogger’s posts that really resonated with me that you may enjoy! I thought this would be a fun way to bring you five favorites in five different categories for the week, depending on what’s caught my eye that I think you may enjoy or get a benefit from as well. Alright, let’s kick this off!
5 BRIDAL PIECES I HAVE MY EYE ON
Now that we are only four months away from our big day, I’ve been researching all the day-off bridal details like jewelry, heels and robes. Below are a few that have caught my eye.
Ps- If you’re looking for bridemaids robes, this Etsy shop has so many cute designs and is half the price of other ones out there. I was able to try on this one and can attest to the high-quality fabric, quick delivery, and such sweet, responsive shop owner. These robes aren’t see thru either which I’ve found many are!
5 RECIPES WE’VE COOKED LATELY
S and I LOVE cooking together in the kitchen. Before grocery shopping on Sunday’s, we find three healthy dinner recipes to make during the week. This allows us to try new ingredients, learn new cooking techniques and honestly keep clean by avoiding eating out! You’ll see that we typically eat organic ground turkey and local organic chicken breasts frequently since they are healthy and lean meat choices. Repeating the same recipes each week can make you bored and opt for unhealthy choices, so here are our favorites we tried the last two weeks:
ONE // Turkey & Cauliflower Shepards Pie: Note, we did not add cheese and we also used fresh carrots and frozen corn for the veggies instead and the “mashed potatoes” were phenomenal!
TWO // Ground Turkey Sweet Potato Skillet: Note, we did not use cheese. This recipe was quick and easy to throw together. I’d even say you could prep the sweet potatoes on Sunday by washing and chopping in case you’re too tired after coming home from work. We threw tuscan kale on top to add in greens and seasoned with fresh sage.
THREE // Grilled Pineapple Burgers: Note, we used homemade, organic ground turkey with lots of spices for the patty instead of hamburg. We’re so excited for the grills to be open for use at our apartment soon!
FOUR // Bikini Rolls: Note, the real recipe we used was from my Tone It Up Nutritional Plan, but you need to be a member to have access to the exact recipe. This post looks very similar. Basically we used rice paper as the roll and filled them with ground turkey seasoned with Whole 30 taco seasoning, jalapeno, corn, edamame, diced green peppers, avocado and dipped them in Trader Joe’s sugar-free salsa! Yummo. They were messy, but a fun change! We have an all new appreciation for the people who make summer rolls at our favorite thai restaurant because while our attempt was yummy, they weren’t all that pretty, haha!
FIVE // Whole30 Turkey Meatballs: Note, we actually make this every single week over zoodles! It’s just too good to note include. We NEVER get sick of them and seriously debate over who gets the last one, haha!
5 PLACES ON OUR TRAVEL BUCKET LIST
S and I officially booked our honeymoon flight this week and O-M-G I’ve got such butterflies, plus a bite from the travel bug. We both want to travel the world before starting a family, so we have a running list of must-visit places in the coming years. Here’s a few we want to check off ASAP:
PARIS, FRANCE [source]: The city of romance. Being the cafe connoisseur that I am and the history buff that S is, this is such a perfect location for us to explore. I mean, who doesn’t want to visit PARIS!?
LONDON, FRANCE [source]: My company has a location in London, so maybe I’ll be checking this one off via work travel some day, but whether for work or personal travel exploring the cute pink houses of Knotting Hill and sipping tea in London is definitely on our list.
BANFF, CANADA [source]: I mean, how gorgeous is Moraine Lake? Talk about God showing his beauty! There are other beautiful areas to explore too including the Cave and Basin National Historic Site. And while I’m from Maine and 100% Canadian, I’ve never even been so why not start with this breathtaking location?
VENICE, ITALY: With S being Italian, our vacation next year will probably be Italy. We’ve been to Rome and Calabria, but we’d love to visit again and check off other locations like Florence, Almafi, and Venice.
SANTORINI, GREECE [source]: We considered this location for our honeymoon, but decided to check off a different romantic city instead. We both agreed that Santorini is a must-visit in the coming years. I mean, who wouldn’t want to sip wine with this view every evening?
5 FAVORITE SPRING PURCHASES
ONE // MATCHING JAMMIES: I don’t know what it is about spring that makes me restock my pajamas, but I always do this time of year! Maybe it’s the spring cleaning bug since I toss the mix matched pjs and opt for matching sets. S works really late, so most weekdays, he comes home to me ready for bed, so I at least like to look a bit put together with matching jammies. [Not that he cares at all, but I like to look presentable most evenings since doesn’t see me in regular clothes five days of the week and matching pjs do just the trick.] This set is my all time favorite because the bottoms come in many different lengths, depending on your heights. Pajamas are always high waters on me, so having the ‘tall’ option makes me H-A-P-P-Y. The top is also so loose, soft and flattering. I wasn’t sure whether the shape would be flattering, but it really is. I’m loving the shorts and tank version in the pretty paisley blue hue too!
TWO // CARD HOLDER: This may seem silly, but my daily frustrations of not finding my debit card and the monthly heart attack of misplacing my credit card are long gone. I don’t know why I’ve gone 26 years without a proper wallet or car holder, but better now than never. This cute card holder is perfect since I swap purses multiple times a week and can fit in anything from my Louis Vuitton Neverfull to Tory Burch crossbody bags which isn’t usually the case with a standard sized wallet.
THREE // CROPPED LEGGINGS: I’ve talked here about my favorite pair of leggings I discovered last fall. Naturally, now that the weather is warm I’m swapping in legging pants for crops and grabbed this pair. I work from home a lot of days through the week, so I go professional on the top half and comfy leggings on the bottom half 😉 since I’m on video chat all day. This pair of leggings is what I wear 99% of the time on the weekend too because let’s be real… comfort>anything.
FOUR // VERSATILE TANK: I’ve styled this tank here and here before on the blog. I love the high neckline, side slits and length. Each detail makes it perfect for layering or wearing on its own. With that said, I’ve gotten so much use out of my white tank, I grabbed another one this month.
FIVE // SPRING CANDLES: We’re always burning candles in the fall because I mean – pumpkin and apple everything, please. The other months out of the year, we don’t really stock up on candles, so when I saw these at the mall the cute glass container grabbed my eye. Then once I took a sniff, the spring scents had to go home with me. I figured the price tag was justified since the candle is huge and I can resuse the glass container after, plus now that I’ve used them – they burn so evenly and slowly.
5 FAVORITE SPRING BEAUTY PRODUCTS
In addition to a pajama overhaul in the spring, I switch over my beauty products as well. My beauty routine differs greatly from winter to summer, so I take this time to play with a low maintenance beauty routine that won’t melt once the humidity hits. In the summer, I want the least amount of product on my face since heat+make up = ick. Below are the products I’ve been loving lately, prepping for the summer heat:
I hope you enjoyed this series and I can’t wait for the next.
I also hope you have a great weekend! This weekend is S’ 26 birthday and his actual birthday is on Saturday!!!!!!!! We go all out for one another birthdays with surprises, so I have a whole day planned with his favorite things and some cool gifts, so I cannot wait to spoil my cute fiance and make some new memories and goodies!
I hope you have a wonderful Friday! Xo Mindy
