Hi ladies – happy Monday!
I can’t believe Easter is only two weeks away! S and I have been attending a weekly marriage prep course the last few Saturdays. We have really gained a lot of insight in forming the foundation of our marriage and what’s needed to have a happy, healthy home for ourselves and future children. Some of the couples grunt and groan while we are there, which I’m sure is just to try to stir up conversation and relate to others, but we have genuinely enjoyed these last few weeks and really look forward to it! While we are just as excited to have our Saturday nights back in a couple weeks, we found that having a dedicated four hours each week dedicated to building our relationship has been so fun and really enjoyable. While we do have date nights each week, this course has made me see that unplugging and really being in the moment is so vital. I’m trying to learn that emails can wait, text messages can wait and one thing I worked on last year that I feel good with is that – social media can most definitely wait. Focusing on your significant other and being in the moment feels so good!
During this course, we’ve covered topics like communication, role expectations, finances and many others which of course has brought up a lot of conversations between S and I. Another topic covered time expectations. This discussed what your individual expectations are for holidays and events like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc. Once you think about your own expectations, you regroup with your partner to see if you’re on the same page and if not, it opens a great discussion so that you can come together as one team and decide on these things before they occur which could have ended in hurt feelings due to mis understandings. One topic on our list was Easter, of course!
The last few years, S and I started a fun tradition of going out for a huge breakfast on Easter morning. We were both on the same page for this, along with ensuring that we add in a new tradition of attending mass at our local church. Naturally I got so excited to find the perfect Easter dress! I am thinking about ordering this one today since the color will allow me to get double use out of with with bridal festivities.
My main advice when searching for an Easter dress is to consider the coverage, color and length. For church I strive to find dresses with sleeves. Whether short sleeves, three-quarter or long length – any work! That may sound silly, but of course straps for church are a no-go. You can always layer on a cardigan, but dresses with sleeves make getting ready in the early AM a breeze! For color, think feminine pastels! Blush hues, robin egg blue and white are festive colors to gravitate to. Then to tie back to my first point, length is so important to consider! Having long legs makes this a challenge, but hitting around the knee or a midi length are ideal.
I hope today’s blog post helps in your search for the perfect Easter dress. I’d love to know any tips you use when shopping for one in the comments below. Xo Mindy
