I’ve been wanting to share this post for so long! Ever since I can remember, I’ve dreamed of having a bar cart. Whenever I see a bar cart, I think of my nana. Her house was always chalk full of gold/glass coffee tables and mirrored accent furniture that had anything from crystal dishes to candy galore on them. She babysat me a lot growing up, so one of the things I’d see her do every single day is dig out the dusting supplies and Windex. I’d be her side kick helping make sure every table was spotless and fingerprint free. We even have a video of me as an itty bitty baby where my pepere was telling me to spit on the table and smudge it in, just to give my nana a hard time. She loved home decor and hosting, but also making sure everything was tidy and clean. I guess that may be where I get it from!
With that, I’ve always pictured myself having a bar cart in our home. It just took some time to find the right one! I was really on the search for one that was finished in a gold hue, that had mirror shelves, a rectangular shape, but wasn’t going to break the bank. Not too many factors, right 😉 Well, about a month ago I came across this one and it crossed every thing off my list. I immediately placed my order and was so excited for it to be delivered!
Once you have your cart, the fun part is decorating it and of course actually using it to serve your friends! In addition to being a useful tool for hosting, bar carts are an area of your home where you can always switch up with the season. Once we have finished decorating our new apartment, I know I’ll get antsy to want to decorate more, so this little spot will serve as an area I can change up whenever I feel fits.
Here are the necessities for styling your bar cart:
Coffee Tables Books & Magazines: Don’t toss those magazines! Your old Elle and Porter magazines serve as an affordable alternative to coffee table cooks. If you are looking to start your own collection of fashion coffee table books, I’d say this one and this one are great starters due to the white base and black detailing.
Alcohol: Duh. While I’m not really a casual drinker, I do have some options on deck for our guests. I’m lost when it comes to making the actual drink, but my friends have me covered in that department haha. I also try to always have a bottle of champagne in stock for an unexpected celebration or gift. When I do opt for a drink, I love Tito’s mixed with sparkling water and a lime so naturally, all those ingredients are on the cart!
Knick Knacks: The gold cluster on the bottom of my cart was another Home Goods find. Having pops of gold really play well off the cart’s color. I added a bunch of cute options below for yours!
Sparkling Water: Pellegrino Water is a practical and classic touch for your cart. I’s great to have on hand and brings any meal up a notch.
Serving Tray: My gold tray was scored at Home Goods by S actually! We were browsing for end tables one day and I saw a similar tray to the one above, but it was cracked. He came walking around the corner with the exact one in perfect condition. He’s always helping me hunt down good deals haha.
Fresh Blooms: Of course anything is more pretty with some fresh blooms. I love to grab them from Trader Joe’s or Wegmans.
Decorative Dishes: Your favorite crystal, Anthro bowls or monogrammed mug are perfect ways to pull in color and pops of personality. Throw in lemons, candy or straws to have essentials ready.
Candles: Henri Bendel Signature candles are my favorite. They not only look so chic, but smell amazing and burn so well. Candles can be tricky because while some may smell great, they burn out so fast! Or, you seem to burn a candle all day without a hint of scent. This scent is great for the holidays and this one is my year-round favorite. They make a great gift too
